Technology Commercialization Workshops Workshop 2: TechFund Lack of sufficient capital has been the cause of many business failures. During this module, we’ll cover various capital formation strategies. You’ll learn about the different funding options that are available, depending on your level of venture readiness, how to tailor an investor pitch to each type, funding that’s available through the government and alternative sources of financing. Specific objectives include: • Learn how to calculate the funding needed at each stage of your business. • Understand the types of funding that are available at different stages of venture readiness. • Understand the difference between angel investors and venture capitalists, and how to tailor an investor pitch to each. • Learn about funding available from government sources (SBIR, tax credits, etc.) • Learn how you can leverage alternative funding sources (i.e. asset-based lending, factoring, etc.
Speaker(s): Sanjay Dhole is a Technology Program Coordinator for Maricopa SBDC. He works with tech startups by helping them put together business plan, feasibility analysis, SBIR/STTR proposal preparation, investor readiness and other activities. Prior to joining SBDC, Sanjay founded and operated two Arizona based businesses in the area of IT Software and Finance. Sanjay holds Masters in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.
