What is a foreign trade zone (FTZ)? Why do companies use FTZs? As a small business owner, do you have these questions in mind? Foreign Trade ZONE (FTZ) is an area that, for United States Customs and Border Protection purposes, is considered to be in international commerce. Any foreign or domestic materials can be moved into an FTZ without being subject to U.S. Customs duties. Local communities benefit from the increased economic development and business development that result from zone projects. Companies use FTZs can improve cash flow, reduce paperwork and expenses, and reduce Arizona real and personal property taxes by 72%, more security, reduce supply chain times.
